Hunger Solution: Lesson 1

Welcome!!

Before we get started, I thought I’d give you a little bit of background on me: I have a Health and Exercise Science degree from Colorado State, in which I was given exactly ONE class on nutrition. So you can imagine my surprise when I began to realize just how important nutrition is to overall health. I am currently working on a getting myself officially certified, but for years I struggled to know what to do when it came to nutrition. I’ve sought out experts, done a lot of reading and research, and experimented on myself and clients. 😉

Over the last year, however, I feel like I was finally able to connect some dots that have really changed forever how I eat and view nutrition…in a positive way. Now I’m just really excited to share these things with you guys!

This is not a diet. There will be no lists of foods you can and can’t eat, meal plans, or calculating calories. When you think about it, all those things really are is a crutch, right? We go back to them again and again because it feels good and comforting, even if it is just temporary. But, afterwards, the emotional turmoil is a little bit worse each time we give up.

This course will show you how to be free of all these things and show you that you already have the most important tools you need to achieve a fit and healthy physique!

First and foremost, it all starts with your mindset. How you think and feel about yourself and this process will make all the difference in the world.

Here are a few things I need you to keep in mind as we go:

1) All-or-nothing thinking must go. The magic really starts happening when you truly allow yourself to not be perfect. You will not get it right every time and that is perfectly OK. 😉 Perfection is neither possible or necessary. So seriously, stop even aiming for it. No more “on or off the wagon”. There is no wagon!! Just your life, with all it’s ups and downs and everything in between.

It’s time to see how much further you will get by giving yourself a little grace.

2) Don’t try to do it all at once. These habits that I’m going to share with you are best practiced one at a time. Start with one, get comfortable with it, build your confidence, and then move on to the next. I know that’s hard when you’re impatient for results, but if you get lasting results, wouldn’t that be worth a little extra time to get there?

To keep it in perspective, think about how long you’ve already been at it – from the very first time you ever decided to do something to get healthy. You gave that process however long and it didn’t work, so now it’s time to try something new! Be patient and trust the process.

3) You are worth taking care of! You were made for so much more than just looking hot. So no matter what you feel about your appearance, remember that you deserve to be taken care of. Please remember this and, from here on out, try to only think (and say) kind and positive things to yourself.

4) Breathe. Relax. Read #1 again. 😉

Perspective is everything. Now it’s your turn to find a quote, verse, or mantra that speaks to you. Something that you can refer to when you need a little encouragement, that helps you keep your goals in perspective. To give you an example, here’s one of my all-time favorites:

Favorite Quote for keeping Perspective:

“I would rather be what God chose to make me than the most

glorious creature that I could think of; for to have been

thought about, born in God’s thought, and then made by

God, is the dearest, grandest and most precious thing in all thinking.”
